Showcase Sunday #7

Showcase Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Vicky @ Books, Biscuits & Tea. The aim of this event is to showcase our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders this week. For more information about how this feature works and how to join in, click here.

I’ve had a great week this week. Whilst I didn’t exactly go mad in the buying department, or in the review-request department, what I did get is pretty awesome.

Here there are:

BOUGHT:

This one was FREE! So, of course, I nabbed a copy coz the blurb sounds fun (even if the cover isn’t quite my cup of tea)

And remember that £10 Amazon voucher I was gifted with? Well, I did initially want to get the 1st Immortal Instruments (coz I haven’t read any of them), but turned out Amazon didn’t do the nice new pretty cover, only the slightly fugly old one. :( And I didn’t want that on my shelf–so I’ve decided to wait until the new cover’s available.

Instead, I added £1.61 of my own pence to the gift voucher and nabbed:

The Perfect Play by Jaci Burton. DUDE, this cover is enough to make a girl salivate. It’s very shiny, too. I’ve stroked it. A LOT! ;)

Partials by Dan Wells. This one has come highly recommended and I got it dirt cheap for £3-something. Another shiny, pretty cover. The book’s way thicker than I expected, though. :)

WON/GIFTED:

I’ve gotta say, the kindness amongst the book blogging community never ever fails to wow me. Since I’ve been blogging here (and on Goodreads prior to starting the blog), I’ve had books posted to me for loan, books I’ve really wanted purchased for me as gifts, and now I’ve had an extraneous copy of a book I really needed (coz we always need the book, it’s never a simple want, right?) to get and wouldn’t have been able to for a little while.

So, to Natalie Cleary, a HUGE thanks for sending me:

Storm by Brigid Kemmerer (another perdy cover)
:)

And, OF COURSE, I mustn’t forget one of the highlights of my week. Another act of total generosity. The pure awesome Rebecca Hart (author of Call of the Sea as well as reviewer over at Bex Book Nook) booked herself a day at BEA. AND, because she knew how much I luuurve Jennifer L. Armentrout, she took her own copy of Obsidian along and got Jen to sign it to ME!

Lookie:

All I had to do was replace Becca’s copy. MAJOR win! Huge thanks to Ms Hart!

Lastly, for blogging to help promote their new Dead Sexy imprint, Entangled gifted me with a copy of:

I’ve heard a lot of good stuff about Diane Alberts, so I’m looking forward to delving into this one and checking her writing out.

Cheers for this, Misa.

And finally onto …

FOR REVIEW:

From Entangled via NetGalley (thankee), so I’m looking forward to it. :)

:)

And that’s it. I think.

What’s in your Showcase Sunday this week?

Oh, and I changed the colours & header of the blog. Whatcha think?

:)

  1. Looks like you got some smexy reads this week! :P I bought PARTIALS a few weeks ago and I’m currently reading it. It’s a bit slow, but the pace is picking up a little. I still have yet to read STORM, but I’ve been hearing lots of good things about it, so it shouldn’t be long before I cave and just buy it. :P

Thanks for stopping by my Showcase Sunday, and enjoy all you reads!

  2. So many awesome books this week! So lucky that you got that copy of Obsidian, Partials was good and I want to get my hands on Storm someday. Enjoy!

  3. I loved “The Perfect Play”! I’m so happy to see it on someone’s blog. I’m not even a sports girl, and I really enjoyed it. I’m not going to lie — the insanely hot cover is what made me pick it up. I was a little disappointed in the relationship with the teen son — it all felt just a little too easy to me, but then again I’m picky, being a stepmother of a teen boy myself. I’m eager to see what someone else thinks of the book.

(And thanks for the mention of Storm. :-D )

    • Oooh, now I’m intrigued. I’m a stepmumt, too–though mine’s no longer a teen, he just moved into his own place with his fiancee. And you’re welcome for the mention. Thanks for stopping by. :)

I love it when people talk to me. :o)
