It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

“It’s Monday! What are you reading?” is a weekly event hosted by Sheila at Bookjourney to share with others what you’ve read the past week and planning to read next.

I’ve been reading a lot slower since the new year arrived, but I’ve also been a lot busier and so I’ll presume that to be the cause, but so long as I AM reading, all’s good in my books.

So … read since last week:

Everneath by Brodi Ashton (review )

Finn Finnegan by Darby Karchut (review)

Breathe by Sarah Crossen (review)

That’s it.

Onto Currently Reading:

I won this in a giveaway over on Jeanz blog, and to be honest was a little unsure about reading because I’d seen a lot of mixed reviews, and quite a few of those low-rated reviews came from folk I often turn to for recommendations, but I figured I’d make up my own mind and I’m glad I did because I’m enjoying it so far, and I’m on page 177.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

One of my bargains from over the weekend. Something to help fill the gap whilst I wait for the Apollyon ARC to make its way round to me. :)

So what about you guys? What are you all reading this week?

Read since last week:

All the Broken Piece by Cindi Madsen

(review to come closer to release)

Tempest Rising by Tracy Deebs

(review to come this week)

That’s it.

Onto Currently Reading:

So far, this is a fun contemporary romance.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

Had this one a couple weeks now, and have been too busy to pick it up, but I hope to rectify soon as I loved Touch and Untouched. :)

Read since last week:

Ashes and Wine by Taryn Elliott (review to come Thursday)

Touch of Death by Kelly Hashway (review to come later)

That’s it.

Onto Currently Reading:

Haven’t got too great a sense what’s going on in this one yet, but the voice seems authentic enough and it’s certainly intriguing. I’ll keep you posted.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

Sad, I know, but the cover is so pretty and I’ll get to stroke it as I read. ;)

Read since last week:

Sweet Blood of Mine by John Corwin (review to come)

Chasers by James Phelan (review to come)

Elixir by Jennifer L. Armentrout (Review to come in an hour)

That’s it.

Onto Currently Reading:

Quirky voice, light-hearted tone, and a fun read. So far, anyhoo.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

Received this one in exchange for a review, and I’m looking forward to it, so I’ll probably dive into this one next.

So what’s everyone else reading right now?

Darn, just realised I didn’t do a post for last Monday. Oh well, we’ll take it from the last one I did.

So … read since last time:

League of Strays by L. B. Schulman (read my review)

Biting Cold by Chloe Neill (read my review)

Twelve Months by Steven Manchester (review to come)

Wither by Lauren DeStefano (review to come)

Onto Currently Reading:

I’m a bit late getting to this review read, but I started it on Saturday evening. It started off real well, with a believable voice, and a whole lotta wit. I’m just a little worried the continuous wit will get on my nerves before the book’s end.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

If this one isn’t on your to-read list, it should be. Can’t wait to dive in. :)

A seriously slow week for reading. However, I did finish up a book I’d been dragging my feet through, and I did get to a book I’d been meaning to for a while.

So … read since last week:

Okay, so I haven’t actually read an entire book since last week, but that’s mostly because I’ve struggled with the one I picked up. At the moment, I have it still marked as ‘currently reading’ but, to be honest, I’m not sure I want to continue because there are just too many issues in there that are marring my enjoyment of the story. So I think I might as well mark it as a DNF and read.

Charade by Cambria Hebert (review to come)

That’s it.

Onto Currently Reading:

Started off decent. Voice is okay. Pacing is fast. Now I’m just hoping something more interesting is about to happen. I’m currently at 28%.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

I’ve had this one for review for a couple of weeks and so hope to find time to get it read this week. I had the first in the series, Halflings, for review when that one came out and thought it was okay, so I’m hoping the author has kicked it up a notch with this one and the story will be more exciting and a little less predictable.

So what about you guys? What are you all reading this week?

My reading seems to be getting slower and slower just lately. Though I think that’s likely to do with how much other stuff I have going on. So all I have to add to my read list is:

Midnight City by J. Barton Mitchell (review)

That’s it. Sad, right?

Onto Currently Reading:

I’m almost halfway through, but this one is a deep, emotional read, and the main topic of the book is something a little too personal for me, which is amping the emotional aspect to an even deeper level. However, it is a very well written and beautiful memoir-style story that I fully intend to get through. It’s just going to take a little time.

I’m also reading

Soul Avenged by Keri Lake

This one is currently unpublished and it’s a beta read for the author (sorry, there’s no cover image yet). I was real excited about the premise of what will become a series when Keri spoke to me about it, and I’m glad to say, at 78%, it’s very much living up to my expectations. This book/series is one to watch, folks.

Received from the author in exchange for an honest review. I’m reading this one on my Kindle around reading the other on my laptop. I’m not used to sci-fi so I’m reserving judgement until I’ve read farther along. But it’s definitely unique in the way it has been written.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

This a review read. I read the first one a couple weeks back (review) so I’m intrigued to see where the story goes. :)

Today is my birthday!

Yahoo!

The Big 4 0!

But, due to having gone through skin surgery last Tuesday, and feeling somewhat under the weather from that, I haven’t read anywhere near as much as I’d hoped to.

So … read since last week:

Wheels by Lorijo Metz

(I only managed to get around 20% into this one before I realised it just wasn’t for me. But then I do tend to struggle with sci-fi)

Wander Dust by Michelle Warren

(Another DNF. I made it to around 50% before deciding I wasn’t enjoying it very much. You can see my review and reasoning HERE)

Masquerade by Cambria Hebert

(Finished this one yesterday. My review’ll be live tomorrow)

That’s it.

Onto Currently Reading:

Yeah, I’m still reading this one. Due to my surgery I couldn’t spend too long at my laptop and I only have this one for my E-reader app, so I’ve ended up taking a short break until I have the stamina to sit long enough to plough through it again. I’m enjoying the characters, though.

I received a hard copy from the author for an honest review and began this one yesterday. I suspected it would be different to what I usually read and I was right. However, I’m going to continue to read because I’m intrigued by the blurb.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

Yep, book 2 to continue on the story from Masquerade. :)

A seriously slow week for reading. However, I did finish up a book I’d been dragging my feet through, and I did get to a book I’d been meaning to for a while.

So … read since last week:

Ashen Winter by Mike Mullin (review to come tomorrow)

The Archived: sneak preview (review)

That’s it.

Onto Currently Reading:

This one’s a little slow going as it was only available for e-reader, which means I have to read it on my laptop. The writing isn’t wowing me so far, BUT I’m liking the characters and am intrigued about the plot.

Received from the author in exchange for an honest review. I’m reading this one on my Kindle around reading the other on my laptop. I’m not used to sci-fi so I’m reserving judgement until I’ve read farther along. But it’s definitely unique in the way it has been written.

Yeah, still this one. I’ll get to it soon, I’m sure. :)

So … read since last week:

Partials by Dan Wells (my Review)

Uglies by Scott Westerfield (review to come)

That’s it.

Onto Currently Reading:

Hyperion let loose some taster ARC’s, and I was lucky enough to nab one. I’m about a third through it, and so far the book has intrigue, clear & concise world building, and I’m very curious as to where the story’s going to go.

And, finally, my biggest hope to get to read this week:

This one was sent to me as a gift, but I promised myself I’d head through some of my review reads before heading into this one. Well, my review pile is getting smaller so, with any luck, I may allow myself to open this one up soon. :)
